RMTA Fall Festival

  • First United Methodist Church of Richardson 503 North Central Expressway Richardson, TX, 75080 United States (map)

This year’s theme is the Classical (1750-1820) period!

Beethoven, Haydn, and Mozart are just a few of the composers from this time period in music history. And many of there works (I’m looking at you Fur Elise) are still popular today!

The Fall Festival is a points event hosted by the Richardson Music Teacher Association (RMTA).  Registered students and their immediate family may attend. Performances are not public. Students will play in front of a judge for feedback on their performance and to earn points towards trophies.  Students scoring exceptionally well are invited to the Texas Music Teachers Association ALL STAR FESTIVAL in May.

The purposes of the Fall Festival are to

  • introduce musicians to music of all periods;

  • motivate research in styles of different periods; and

  • stimulate the quality of musical work early in the academic year.

Music must be memorized and the original published copy of music made available to the judge.  Very early grade students need to perform pieces with a minimum of 12 measures.
